Adjusting Braces

Posted .

During the course of your orthodontic treatment with Dr. John Fleming, you’ll have to visit our office periodically to have your braces adjusted. This is a critical part of straightening your teeth and ensuring that you get the smile you want as quickly and effectively as possible.

Every time an adjustment is made, it means you’re that much closer to no longer needing to wear braces.

The stretching applied to the periodontal ligaments is progressive. Timely and consistent adjustment sessions are critical for keeping the treatment time to a minimum. Adjustment sessions are also good times to replace spacers, bands or other pieces of hardware that have suffered from a little wear and tear.

Your orthodontist, Dr. John Fleming, understands that the wires, brackets and other pieces of orthodontic hardware can often create hard-to-clean areas in the mouth. So, the appointments are also good times to ask questions about how to most effectively maintain good oral health. Dr. John Fleming can recommend new oral hygiene tools and techniques you might want to try.

If, for any reason, you won’t be able to make it to your next adjustment appointment, it’s important that you call our team here at Quality Orthodontic Care to reschedule as soon as possible. We can be reached at 770-901-2433.
